Supersonic Flight- Faster Than Speed of Sound

Sound travels at about 760 miles per hour. When a jet reaches close to those fast speeds it can cause some remarkable visual and acoustic effects. As you will see in this video, when the aircraft passes the sound barrier it is almost like hitting an invisible glass wall. The sonic boom you hear (similar to thunder) is caused by a pressure differential caused by compressibility of air near the speed of sound, in other words the air can’t move out of the way quick enough and causes a wave of pressure to build up.

Private Jet of the Day: Challenger 350

describe the image

Magellan Jets is proud to introduce the Challenger 350, the next step in Bombardier’s mid-size jet line. Upgraded from the successful G300, the G350 contains a new wing, larger windows, more powerful engines, and a redesigned interior. The groundbreaking aesthetics and ergonomic advancements provide an entirely new cabin design catered to passenger comfort. The larger windows allow more natural light into the aircraft to decrease fatigue and expand viewing angles. Furthermore, the luxurious seats are capable of reclining to a full ‘lie-flat’ position to provide passengers with more comfortable sleeping arrangements.  If that’s not enough, the flat floor, stand up height, and incredibly wide cabin will provide travelers with enough space for work, rest, and dinning. Speaking of dining, the modern and modular galley will provide unprecedented storage and counter space for preparing snacks and multiple course meals. The spacious cabin provides customers ample comfort for flights up to 3,200 nautical miles. To say that the Challenger350 is “well rounded” would be an understatement. In establishing new benchmarks in multiple dimensions, the 350 has become a leading super-midsize aircraft that exceeds every expectation. Call Magellan Jets today for a quote.

Tips For Traveling With Pets On-Board a Private Jet

Magellan Jets knows you love your pets, and we are experts on finding the proper aircraft that allow your pets to travel like the family they are. We can work with you and the charter flight provider to schedule rest-stops, place toys on board, even have crews assigned that are extra pet-friendly! With a private jet charter, your four-legged family member can join you during your travel without any stress.

Commercial airline travel can be difficult on both pet and owner. The headache of dealing with TSA procedures is enough reason to find an alternative solution, but the major problem is that majority of commercial airlines only allow pets to travel in the cargo hold. This can cause animals a lot of undue stress based on the daunting environment change.  The risk is higher that your pet could end up in minimal care, become lost, injured or worse! According to a government report, 19 airway carriers had a shocking 238 pet deaths, 108 injuries and 42 losses from May 2005-April 2013.

But there are pet-friendly alternatives that eliminate your four-legged buddy from being treated like a piece of luggage. You and your pet deserve a peaceful, safe and comfortable flight. When you charter a flight with Magellan Jets, we go above and beyond your expectations, and you can be confident that your pet is not only in good hands, but your hands!  We look forward to seeing you and your pet soon!

Here are a few tips when traveling with your pets onboard a private jet:

Schedule a vet appointment-
Remember before you leave to make sure your pet is up to date on all shots and vaccinations. The checkup should also include a general physical examination to check for any signs of illness. Let the veterinarian know about your upcoming travels.  We recommend going for their check up no more than 10 days prior to your trip.

Update your pets ID tags-
Check to make sure your pets tags are up to date and secure on their collars. In the event your dog runs off while on vacation, with the proper ID tag returned with correct contact information.

Pack some friendly reminders-
Make sure to pack a few items to remind your pet of home. It can be overwhelming travelling to a new location. Bringing their favorite toy or dog bowl can leave them with a familiar scent.

Don’t feed your pet TOO much before your departure-

Make sure that you don't stuff your pet with food or too much water before takeoff. A pet with a full belly aboard an aircraft may vomit from anxiety or travel sickness. Too much food or water can also lead to accidents inside; not a pleasant way to fly.
